The project scope is to provide a affordable modern family home with inbuilt flexibility to accommodate a families needs as they change overtime. It combines traditional solar passive design principles with modern materials such as double glazing and insulated cavity brick work to produce a  year round comfortable house.

Kalamunda Project

Scope

The project scope was to provide an affordable house suitable for a couple or a small family that would be comfortable year round and use as little energy and water as possible.

Result
The combination of solar passive design and water saving technologies has resulted in a house that uses around one third as much power as the average house and around one tenth as much water.

The house regularly reaches 23 degrees inside on a sunny winter day and can be cooled on even the hottest days with just one medium sized split system air conditioner.
